Tsubasa Ozora moves to Nankatsu city in Shizuoka. He is a passionate soccer boy and instead of helping with the move, he runs away to dribble his ball around the city. Along the way, he has a fateful encounter and meets Genzo Wakabayashi, a genius goalkeeper of Shutetsu Elementary School. Tsubasa sends a “Challenge” ball by kicking the ball into Wakabayashi's house from the top of the hill!

Wakabayashi received a challenge from Tsubasa. He couldn’t hide the confusion about the immense power of Tsubasa’s kick and says that he will accept his challenge if Tsubasa can dribble through the B-team of Shutetsu elementary school of which Wakabayashi is the captain. While Ishizaki complains about the unfair conditions, Tsubasa accepts without hesitation.

The former Brazilian professional soccer player Roberto Hongo started freeloading in Tsubasa’s house. He also declared himself the trainer of the Nankatsu Elementary School soccer club and prepares a ‘special present’ for Tsubasa. It turns out it was a practice game against Nishigaoka Elementary School lead by Hanji Urabe.

Roberto shows Tsubasa his old tricot from the time he played for Brazil and Tsubasa gets all excited and says, “One day, I will become a player of the Japanese national team and will fight the world!”. Roberto shows a strange expression, halfway between happy and long face. On Roberto's desk was an envelope sent from a university Number hospital.

To prepare for the inter-school tournament against the Shutetsu elementary team lead by Wakabayashi, Tsubasa trains every morning with Roberto. When Tsubasa and the rest of the soccer club find out that Shutetsu will have a practice game, they head out to watch the game. Shutetsu team is full of great players, including Wakabayashi, Izawa, Kisugi, Taki, Takasugi, and more.

The game against Shutetsu Elementary School has started! After the schools competed in baseball, volleyball, and judo, now the final game is soccer, and it will decide which school will win the inter-school tournament. On the other hand, Wakabayashi enters the field looking very relaxed and once again declares that this is a match between him and Tsubasa.

Wakabayashi is furious about Nankatsu’s unexpected strategy to keep striker Tsubasa in defense and commands his own team to score 50 goals to challenge Tsubasa. Wakabayashi thinks it will be easy to score because Nankatsu previously lost in a practice match to Shutetsu with a 30-goal difference. However, Tsubasa’s active play is keeping Shutetsu away from the goal.

The second half of the match starts with Shutetsu’s first goal. Tsubasa and Roberto keep the spirits of the team high, but it does not easily lead to a goal for them. In addition, Nankatsu struggles with Shutetsu’s winning strategy “Rondo”. Somehow, Ishizaki manages to break their strategy, but in the process, he hurts his leg. The team now faces a need to search for a substitute player.

Wakabayashi’s powerful shot pierced the goal of Nankatsu. With not even five minutes extra time left, Nankatsu lost their lead. They swear to make a counterattack to tie the game again but Shutetsu also keeps up the attacks for an additional goal. As the final whistle approaches, Nankatsu or Shutetsu, who will be blessed with a smile from the Goddess of Victory in the end?

Nankatsu Youth Soccer Club has been established as a selection team for the National Youth Soccer Tournament! Tsubasa and the others were among 30 other boys who were chosen to start training together and have a chance to become a part of the final 15 boys who will form the team. They will be split into two teams with Wakabayashi and the others from the Shutetsu Elementary School.

The National Youth Soccer Tournament for Shizuoka prefecture has started. Nankatsu SC is on a roll by scoring a hat-trick from the first match and proceeded to the semifinals without problems, and is now facing their next opponent, the Shimada SC. Instead of Wakabayashi, who hurt his leg, the team decided to use Morisaki as the goalkeeper for this match.

June 18, 2018 • 24m•U/A 16+
Nankatsu SC made it through to the final tournament of Shizuoka prefecture. Wakabayashi is back in the game and they will be able to face Shimizu FC with their full power. Shimizu FC is a solid defensive team with goalkeeper Kawakami. Even though Nankatsu SC often get close to the rival’s goal, they just can’t break through Kawakami’s protection.

Beating Shimizu FC, Nankatsu SC received a ticket to the national tournament! The winners of each prefectural competition meet at the national tournament, which is about to start! The Nankatsu team spend the last free day deep in their thoughts. Tsubasa was, of course, practicing with Roberto at the field when Wakabayashi meets them.

With a high-pitched whistle, the National Youth Soccer Tournament kicks off. Tsubasa and his team will face Saitama representative Meiwa FC from the first round of the qualifying league, which is the favorite in the tournament. Tsubasa is tense since he received advice from Wakabayashi to ‘overthrow Kojiro Hyuga’. As Tsubasa dashed toward the goal of Meiwa FC, Kojiro came close...

Tsubasa proved with his play that ‘the ball is my friend’. Morisaki also recovered and with their newfound energy, Nankatsu SC starts a counterattack! The golden duo of Tsubasa and Misaki also starts to work better again. The game finally reaches its second half. Meiwa and Nankatsu both work hard to get a chance of scoring a goal.

July 16, 2018 • 24m•U/A 16+
After a long, intense battle, Nankatsu suffered a defeat by Meiwa. In order to still qualify for the finals, they have to second in the preliminary round and win against the Akita prefecture representative Hanawa FC. Hanawa’s game against Meiwa had ended in a draw. To beat Hanawa, Nankatsu has to find out how to break up the attacks of the super duo Tachibana twins.

July 23, 2018 • 24m•U/A 16+
Hanawa have caught up to Nankatsu thanks to the Tachibana twins’ Triangle Shot. As nobody can move on in the final tournament if the match ends in a draw, Tsubasa and Misaki start their offense. With Hanawa getting in the lead, Nankatsu are in real bind. Although they are doing their best to attack, the team just cannot seem to break Hanawa’s defense, and the end of the game approaches.

It has been decided that Nankatsu SC gets to participate in the final tournament! Unlike the preliminary round, this time they have to fight hard because losing once will mean that it’s game over. Wakabayashi plans on coming back soon from his break due to injury and leaves his dream of playing in the final game in the team’s and Tsubasa’s hands. The game with Osaka’s representatives starts.

The semifinal of the National Youth Soccer Tournament finally started. The first game is played by the Hokkaido representative Furano FC and the Saitama representative Meiwa FC. Hyuga started a strong one-man game from the beginning with fierce attacks and showed Furano FC the strength of the favorite for the tournament. But Matsuyama won’t be defeated that fast either.

August 13, 2018 • 24m•U/A 16+
After the Furano FC and Meiwa FC’s match, the second match of the semi-finals has started in which finally Nankatsu SC with Tsubasa will face Musashi FC lead by Jun Misugi. In the previous rounds, Musashi FC was undefeated and continues to attack Nankatsu’s goal without a break. This is a game like never seen before and so Tsubasa has to go and challenge the ball off of Misugi personally.

Repeated off-side traps. Advanced jumping volleys and overhead kicks of extreme levels. Tsubasa has lost the will to fight against Jun Misugi, who seems to be better than Tsubasa even with his heart defect, because of his exceptional technique, leadership skills as captain, and talent. When Tsubasa falls to his knee and doesn’t get up again, the rest of the Nankatsu team stand silently.

Two minutes before the end of the game Misugi's fierce attacks land a goal against Nankatsu. Nankatsu tries hard to catch up with the tie, but Musashi FC's thorough mark on Tsubasa keeps them away from the goal. While Misugi manages to give exact orders to his team, one moment after the other passes.

The finals of the National Youth Soccer Tournament. The fateful game between Nankatsu SC and Meiwa FC has finally started! Tsubasa told Hyuga that he would take the win. Together with Misaki, the Golden Duo starts to attack the goal of Meiwa, but the mysterious goalkeeper who is playing with Meiwa since the semi-finals prevents every chance. Hyuga on the other hand also fights with all his power.

September 10, 2018 • 24m•U/A 16+
Nankatsu starts the second half of the game in the lead with one goal. Hyuga has realized his mistake after Takeshi Sawada’s advice and changes his tactic in the second half and makes the whole team attack violently with the mindset ‘win the game no matter what’. At one point, the impressive and aggressive duo play of Hyuga and Takeshi lets them take the ball and they get into the penalty area!

Only a little bit of time remaining from the second half at the final game of the National Youth Soccer Tournament. Misaki is back in the game after getting his injury treated and suppresses the pain to somehow pass the ball to Tsubasa and out-play Hyuga and Takeshi. Misaki’s efforts pay off at last when Tsubasa finally receives the ball!

The sun is burning down on the players from high in the sky, their many injuries hurt. But the players of both Nankatsu and Meiwa keep boldly attacking the goal. Not only the attacks on the goal are an important part of this game, but also the flawless performance of the goal keepers! Wakabayashi has built a wall around his goal, not letting a single shot in even though he is injured.

The final of the sixth National Youth Soccer Tournament is reaching its climax. The second half of the second extra time has started. During the first half, Nankatsu was able to defend their goal against the fierce attacks of Meiwa. During the second half, Tsubasa and Misaki, the Golden Duo, attacks fiercely and, but Misaki suddenly suffers from pain in his leg!

Nankatsu won the National Youth Soccer Tournament. Tsubasa is looking forward to the journey to Brazil, the home of soccer, as Roberto has promised, since it has been Tsubasa’s dream. However, news reaches him that Roberto has already left on his way back to Brazil…! In hopes of still catching up to him, he rushes to the airport. Meanwhile, a scout of Toho Academy MS approaches Hyuga.

It’s been three years since the National Youth Soccer Tournament. Tsubasa and his friends are preparing for the last summer tournament of middle school. They have reached good results even during practice games and the Nankatsu MS team aims at winning the tournament for the third time in a row. There they meet some of their former teammates, such as Hanji Urabe by facing the team of Otomo MS.

It’s time for the Shizuoka tournament! The team of Nankatsu MS and Otomo MS have utilized all their talent and made it to the final game where they will play against each other! Nitta exposes his fighting spirit to Tsubasa. Tsubasa on the other hand wants to accept his challenge and proposes a certain strategy. Will they be able to stop the winning strategy of Otomo?

It’s still the finale of the Shizuoka tournament. Nankatsu MS took the lead in the first half of the game. Nitta is made aware of the difference in ability with Tsubasa and is frustrated feeling. Still, the only way to beat Tsubasa is to catch up and overtake, and Nitta boldly challenges the Non-Trap Running Volley Falcon Shot, inspired by Tsubasa’s shot.

The match between Nankatsu MS and Otomo MS at last reaches its end. Tsubasa scores points with the power of the entire team against Nitta who perfected the Non-Trap Running Volley Falcon Shot. Urabe and the rest of the team desperately try to pass to Nitta. Nankatsu members who know their plan tries for a counterattack. What is the result when they come face to face?

In the early stages, Toho Academy MS led 3 points, and Musashi MS was forced to put in their ace player Jun Misugi sooner than expected. Musashi MS was able to catch up one goal in the first half of the game and disrupted the game flow a bit, but Toho Academy MS’s goalkeeper Wakashimazu’s solid defense makes it hard for them to see even a chance of getting the ball past him.

Tsubasa receives a mail from someone, while he is working towards his dream of winning the national tournament for his third time and his advancement to Brazil, for which he eagerly studies Portuguese. The mail is from Wakabayashi, the goalkeeper he played with in elementary school and who is currently attending a middle school in Germany.

It’s time for the opening game of the National Middle School Soccer Tournament! In the first round, Nankatsu MS, the representatives of Shizuoka prefecture, will face Azuma-Ichi MS, representatives of Osaka prefecture. The center back defender Makoto Soda of Azuma-Ichi MS started a sharp tackle on Tsubasa and took the momentum to score a goal against Nankatsu MS with his Razor Shot!

10 minutes left in the game. Old wounds started hurting and Nankatsu are struggling against Soda’s persistence, but thanks to Takasugi’s fine play they were able to catch up. But after that, none of both teams were to get a point, making it seem as if the game came to a halt.

The Hanawa MS team with their star players, the Tachibana twins, has shown their talent at the Saitama World Stadium. Even sealing their specialty aerial soccer, Hanawa MS gained extra points by beating the representative of Yamanashi prefecture. On the other hand, Nankatsu played against Nishikigaoka MS, and were able to show their own strength to the full.

The new acrobatic trick called ‘Skylab Hurricane’ by the Tachibana twin’s blast! It pierces the net of Nankatsu’s goal. The eleven players of Nankatsu can’t help but openly show their agitation. If the twins can’t get just before the goal, they won’t be able to do the Skylab Hurricane, so Nankatsu is defending their goal with all they got. Then Hanawa puts in new players in the second half…!?

Tsubasa has realized that it is difficult to get a pass through the thick defense of Hanawa, so he decided on something: Drive Shot. Will Tsubasa score a goal with his Drive Shot, which he missed in the Azuma-Ichi match? Only five minutes of the game are left. The Tachibana twins, who were devoted to defense, have finally start to make a move again!

The National Middle School Soccer Tournament has entered the quarterfinals. Toho Academy MS is showing their strength even without Kojiro Hyuga and Furano MS and their captain Matsuyama will face Minami Uwa MS. Furano is expected to win the match which led them to underestimate Minami Uwa, and them scoring the first important goal leads to unexpected struggles for Furano.

The match between Nankatsu and Hirado MS began, betting on the last chair to advance to the tournament’s final four. Even though it is said that Hirado is not a strong opponent, there is a fearless smile on Jitos’ face when they meet. Tsubasa thinks that something is wrong and warns the others. Just as expected, Jito comes in like a heavy dump truck!

Nankatsu let Hirado score three goals in the first half of the game. The only chance they have now to turn the game around is the unfinished Drive Shot of Tsubasa, so he uses his whole body and power to send it flying toward Hirado’s goal! Tsubasa has challenged this shot in many previous games of this tournament. Will he be able to get it in this time?

It’s finally time to decide who will play in the final match of the National Middle School Soccer Tournament. The first match is between Meiwa Higashi MS and Toho Academy MS. It is an odd game, as former teammates from elementary school who played together as Meiwa FC under coach Kira are now standing on the field as rivals.

Toho Academy MS took the win and advanced to the finals. There’s only one spot left now! Nankatsu and Furano will fight for it. Leading the team is in both cases a mid-field player with the tricot number 10: Tsubasa Ozora for Nankatsu and Hikaru Matsuyama for Furano. While all the attention was naturally on the battle in the mid-field, Matsuyama starts a tackle on Tsubasa.

Nankatsu is one goal in the lead. There are ten minutes left. Both teams are playing with their full power to decide the game for themselves. As the sound of the final whistle is frighteningly close, Furano launches their last attack and buries the ball in Nankatsu’s goal. Furano’s manager Yoshiko is praying for victory while Matsuyama and Tsubasa start the one-on-one duel of captains!

It is one day before the final game of the National Middle School Soccer Tournament. Hyuga really wanted to play in this final game, so he threw away his pride and went down on his knees to beg Kitazume. But Kitazume’s negative answer leaves Hyuga irritated. Wakashimazu, Sawada, and the rest of the team are also asking Kitazume to put Hyuga into the final game.

Hyuga released his Tiger Shot. Even though it did not score a goal, the whole stadium is in awe by the deconstructive power of his shot. The revival of the fierce tiger. That’s the shocking opening of the final game between Nankatsu and Toho. Team Nankatsu seems to falter below this show of power, but Ishizaki keeps calling out to them to not feel intimidated or lose courage.

The first fifteen minutes of the first half in the final game of the National Middle School Soccer Tournament have passed. Nankatsu is already facing their first crisis! Tsubasa could not shoot his Drive Shot anymore! On the other hand, Toho have to fight with the recurrence of Wakashimazu’s injury.

Tsubasa is forced to leave the field for a bit because of his injured leg. If he wants to return to the game, he could get a painkiller injection, but one of the head doctors Kamijo is against it. Tsubasa starts to feel desperate. ‘It’s…my dream…’ What thoughts did Tsubasa put into this game? On the other hand, Hyuga is firing one Tiger Shot after the other at Nankatsu.

Tsubasa scored a goal thanks to the pass from Ishizaki with a Diving Header. The score board now shows a 3-3 tie. Ten minutes in the second half, the game is back to square one, and Hyuga feels responsible and aggressively attacks Nankatsu’s goal. That’s where the giant defender Takasugi waits for him. Hyuga is pushed away and caught by surprise so he grabs Takasugi in reflex.

We’re at the final game of the tournament and stuck in overtime. Tsubasa, who has been only thinking about his departure to Brazil, is all eager to score the V3 goal himself even though he has injured his left shoulder and left foot. With an exhausted and worn-out body, the heaven-sent child of soccer, Tsubasa, invades Toho’s field by using his outstanding skills.

The final game of the National Middle School Soccer Tournament is finally over! Hyuga was overwhelmed by Tsubasa, who rose from the ashes like a phoenix. We will lose… such word pass through Hyuga’s head while Toho is chasing to close the one goal difference with Nankatsu in the final phase but supported by the cheers of Matsuyama and the others, Hyuga moves on.
